'Tis The Season

Sharing Is Caring...
Bronx Youth Empowerment Program (YEP)
Annual Holiday Event

'Tis the season to show those you love and those you may not even know some love... this past Saturday Dec 22nd, 2012, the Bronx Youth Empowerment Program and the Next Generation For King (NG4KING) along with sponsors: Councilman Andy King, Surrey Co-ops, Golden Crust, Bronx Clergy Task Force, The 47th Precinct, came together to show love to some of the kids in the 12th District by giving away toys and coats; "just a little something to give back to our neighbors" one of the members of YEP said, "we try all year 'round to let our community know that we are there for them, and besides that it feels good to give! It's not about the me, it's about the we".

The afternoon was full of fun, smiles and sharing. The community room in the Surrey Co-ops had nothing but a standing room, but enough room for the kids to feel all the love that was shown by the gift givers.

Councilman Andy King and his staff made sure that everyone was enjoying themselves and no one left empty handed. I think the 12th District has the right man and team on the job!

We also know that its around that time of the year when the weather is a bit colder outside; the event was not short of gifts, they gave away more than just toys... a rack that stood in the corner was over flowing with coats and tables lined up along side the walls, were full of pajamas for the little ones, scarfs, hats, & gloves. This was truly an event of giving and that slogan of "Sharing is Caring" is what the day was all about.
